Mitsubishi FQ-330 SST

Great news for Evo lovers, as paddle-shift reaches more powerful Mitsubishi Evo X

Here at Evo Towers we’ve blown hot and cold over the tenth version of our namesake Lancer, primarily because of its technical advancements and more polished finish. As a ground covering tool it would be hard to find anything more efficient and there are fleeting moments of greatness, but we miss the interaction and rally-raw feel of the old Evo IX.

The optional SST twin-clutch gearbox introduced with the X did little to help the new car’s case. Up until now, however, the SST ’box was only available on the basic FQ-300, which led us to conclude that it wasn’t beefy enough to cope with more power. Well, apparently it is, as now the 324bhp FQ-330 can be ordered with it too, and the great news is that it makes for a far more intriguing package.

The bias of the Evo’s four-wheel-drive system is rearward and here it has enough power to give the driver more options, with both power and lift-off oversteer on the menu. The blink-and-you’ve-missed-it gearshifts are more in keeping with this new-found feistier character too. The great news for Evo lovers, then, is that some of the missing spirit has returned.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 7

The standard and modified Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 7

The Japanese made Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 7 was introduce in year 2001 based on CT9A Platform with 2.0L Turbocharged Engine (4G63) output at 276hp (205kw) on engine itself and torque was increased again to 284 ft·lbf (385 N·m. Come with 5 speed Manual and also marked the first time an automatic drive train was introduce within this model line up - GT-A

The original Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 7 was quite comfortable and stable ride. With 276HP on the engine, driving down the road in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia consider a quite powerful 4 door sedan car with a boot!!!

Original with full time 4wd with AYC system ,this car can take the corner like a roller coaster.

Here comes the 2 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 7 mod with modification and exceeded 480HP on the Engine

Before that , the owner of this car already push the stock turbine up to 1.7BAR of BOOST!! with Aftermarket ECU and Fuel pump . The owner still not satisfied with the performance and he hungry for more!!!

Now this car can consider as a Mild Modification without touching the original 4G63 Engine Block and its produce 480HP!!!

OK, Now we talk about the process of the modification ,

At first , we searching for turbo kit system , well this really a headache as we have to search a turbine that suitable for this 4G63 Engine. If the turbine is too big , it will cause turbo lag and if the turbine is small, its unable to push a high horsepower on the engine ~ DAMN!!!!

Finally we found HKS GT3037S turbo kit at N1 Racing Sunway and this was secondhand!! Well although it was Used item but the turbo kit really in a very good condition .....and come with HKS Exhaust Manifold system and 44mm wastegate

This HKS turbine design with AR60 Front Housing and rear housing Measure at 0.84mm can consider a big turbine mean for 450HP and up, this might cause turbo lag , In Hong Kong , same car model with the same turbine , they mod and dyno at 630HP!!! Are you sure?

This modification , we change the injector from 560cc to 800cc manufactured by SARD Japan and powered with SARD 265LPH In tank fuel pump with Walbro 255LPH External fuel pump

The engine head also powered with Tomei 270" Pro Cam with Brian Crower Oversize valve (1MM) and Titanum Retainer. The Engine Head was port polish to ensure a better flow system together with Tomei 1.5mm Metal Gasket to get a perfect compression for high boost without damage the engine

HKS Twin Power was added in for a better ignition system , HKS Spec R intercooler system and HKS Racing type 2 Blow off valve also not missed

Then engine block, throttle system , Intake system still remain original and still VIRGIN!!

The engine Management system - Apex'i Power FC L'JETRO

At JC Racing Asia - we send the car for dyno and tune by KIM one of my friend
we felt so nervous...wondering how's the car will perform??? can it really achieve high horse power as expected ?

The answer is YES!!!!!

End up with roughly around 550HP on engine and 426HP ON wheel
Boost at 1.5bar !!! with stock internal !!! that is magnificent!!!

I took the car for a run at one of the highway ~ well...this car perform very well..but turbo lag really irritating me otherwise it's really good to drive around

The respond from 4200RPM the turbo only kick in ~~ and full boost at 6300RPM~ means I have to pull at least 8000RPM to get power

ehh this is Alvin favourite car too~~~!!
